Heliskiing

Heliskiing takes place in areas accessed only by a helicopter. The terrain is varied and the snow is un-groomed. This is not a sport for a novice or budget conscious skier.

British Columbia, in Canada, is the most popular destination for heliskiing. Rather than use a traditional ski lift, heliski operators make continuous flights to known sections of great snow for about ten runs a day. Professional operations are often regulated, as are flights around the mountains, so chartering a helicopter for your own heliskiing adventure is very unusual.
