When the Surfers Paradise Hotel was established in 1925, it set the tone of what to expect for tourism on the Gold Coast of Australia. The area grew so quickly through real estate tourism speculators that it came to officially be named the Gold Coast. There are 14 shopping centers and arcades in Surfers Paradise with late night shopping seven days a week and 120 market stalls which stretch across the beachfront promenade.

The village atmosphere offers an almost European feel and regarded as a dining mecca. Broadbeach provides a family-friendly atmosphere filled with free festivals, community events and performances. Pacific Fair, is one of Australia’s largest retail centers with more than 300 stores, cinemas, and an abundance of casual dining.
