Williamsburg is just on the Brooklyn side of the Williamsburg Bridge from Manhattan. It is reminiscent of Haight-Ashbury in San Francisco. There's are a wide variety of restaurants and stores and a quick walk to the river yields a park with an amazing view that rivals the Brooklyn Heights Promenade.

The northern portion to Williamsburg near the East River, is experiencing growth through renovation and retail expansion. In the South end be sure to visit Peter Lugars, the most famous steakhouse in New York City or one of the mot other-worldly Hasidic Jewish neighborhood. It is truly worth a visit if you have never seen anything like this.
