Once dangerous, then quietly residential, Chelsea has become very, very downtown and increasingly upscale and has changed considerably. It has become a residential area known for its population of writers and artists.

New York's hottest gallery scene inhabits the area's western edge with haute restaurants to match. The Chelsea Market attracts "foodie" types from all over the area, despite its dark, dated design. There has been a recent growth of trendy clubs that have taken up residence on and around 27th street.

Chelsea Piers Sports Complex offers a great place to practice your golf swing, try a little rock climbing or a little family bowling. Chelsea is a great place to enjoy a harbor cruise on a warm summer night on one of the historic vessels of Classic Harbor Line.
