Midtown

Midtown is one of the most visited areas of New York. Arguably the most popular destination for tourists, this is the land of skyscrapers and theater, tenements and pure energy. It is fast, crowded, noisy and the epicenter of commuter system. Half the city’s train commuters enter at Grand central Terminal, the famed architectural landmark located at 42nd Street and Park Avenue.

Grand Central underwent a major renovation some years back and now represents itself as a tourist destination to itself. The intricate ceiling is something to behold. Some of the city's iconic shopping logos are represented here including Bergdorf Goodman, Tiffany's, and Saks Fifth Avenue. Up and comers like the Nike Store, Coach and other upscale brands are well represented here.

There is, of course, Barney's and for kids FAO Schwartz, with the famous "Big Piano" has been totally redone. St. Patrick's Cathedral is on Fifth Avenue just north of Saks; Carnegie Hall and Rockefeller Center sit on its eastern edge; Radio City Music Hall is down the street as well as the newly renovated Museum of Modern Art.

To the west, is Hell's Kitchen with its ethnic restaurants, trendy bars and independent shops. In the middle is Times Square, replete with over-the-top signs, screaming crowds, scam artists and card sharks, over-the-top commerce and lots and lots of theater.

  • Aquariums

Oceans cover 71% of the Earth’s surface, and we’ve only explored about 5% of it. That leaves so much of the Earth that we know nothing about. Not everyone can dive right into the water to look at the ocean life, so why not do the next best thing? Aquariums give us a window into a whole other world. Most locations around the world have aquariums; some larger than others.

  • Snowmobiling

Snowmobiling began to take off in the 1950's as lightweight design emerged. At first, snowmobiling was a topic of dispute, because snowmobilers like to take advantage of the flexibility of their machines to travel off-road, thereby disrupting otherwise pristine environments. Others objected to snowmobilers because their machines were noisy and polluted the environment.
