Canada

Canada

Canada is vast and beautiful and offers breathtaking natural scenery wherever you travel. It also has three of the most metropolitan cities in the world: Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver. Calgary is much like the cities in the western USA and Banff is one of the most beautiful places in North America.

Beautiful Banff National Park lies in the majestic Canadian Rockies. It is Canada's oldest national park since its sulphur springs were discovered by Canadian Pacific railway workers in 1883. The area offers picturesque mountains, glaciers, meadows, lakes, rivers, waterfalls, hot springs and a wide array of stunning wild life. William Cornelius Van Horne, the railroad's president, was the one who stated "Since I can't export the scenery; I'll import the tourists." Thus began a tourism industry.

Alberta is undoubtedly one of the most breathtaking places on earth. Nestled in the rugged beauty of the Canadian Rocky Mountains and surrounded by turquoise lakes, pristine forests and rushing rivers provide for an authentic adventure.

The Lake Louise Ski Resort area comprises three major ski resorts in the Banff National Park near the village of Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada. The mountain peaks of Merlin Ridge, Mount Richardson, Ptarmigan Peak, Pika peak, and Redoudt Mountain offer some of the best scenery in all of Western Canada. Lake Louise, with uniquely beautiful terrain that is both vast and varied, sits in a wilderness that is pristine and inspirational.

Mont-Tremblant is located approximately 130 kilometers, or 81 miles northwest of Montreal, Canada. The city itself is fairly new (year 2000) but the area is most famous for being a world class ski resort such as the Mont-Tremblant, which is 5 kilometers from the village proper. Mont-Tremblant is also home to Circuit Mont-Tremblant, which once hosted Formula One, Can-Am, Trans-Am and Champ Car World Series competitions.

Montreal is Canada's most diverse metropolis. Many have described it as resembling Vienna. It is a very much a year round destination with its diversity of restaurants, attractions and festivals. Montreal is home to the RÉSO, the underground city, a subterranean network of walkways, shopping centers, restaurants, movie theatres and subway stations that covers an astounding 33 kilometres downtown. If you plan your trip right, you'll barely have to go outside, unless you want to.

Québec City is one of the oldest cities in North America. Its culture is as unforgettably rich as the structures and history surrounding it. Quebec City's Old Town is a World Heritage Site, selected for being the only North American fortified city north of Mexico whose walls still exist. The city and its surrounding areas have a distinct European feel, unique to North America; attractive stone buildings and winding streets are lined with a selection of shops and restaurants.

As the largest city in Canada, Toronto, or known as just "T.O.", attracts millions of visitors each year. It is known for its clean and friendly atmosphere and plays host to thousands of international visitors each year and is one of the most diverse cities in the world. The city officially deals with 16 different languages, while some public agencies offer a help line in 70 languages.

Paradise for travelers seeking authentic, no-hassle, go-anywhere adventures both outdoors and in supreme indoor comfort is called Vancouver and Vancouver Island. Both have won numerous travel awards. With its scenic views, mild climate, and friendly people, Vancouver is known around the world as one of the best places to live based on annual quality-of-life surveys.

New Things To Do

  • Aquariums

Oceans cover 71% of the Earth’s surface, and we’ve only explored about 5% of it. That leaves so much of the Earth that we know nothing about. Not everyone can dive right into the water to look at the ocean life, so why not do the next best thing? Aquariums give us a window into a whole other world. Most locations around the world have aquariums; some larger than others.

  • Snowmobiling

Snowmobiling began to take off in the 1950's as lightweight design emerged. At first, snowmobiling was a topic of dispute, because snowmobilers like to take advantage of the flexibility of their machines to travel off-road, thereby disrupting otherwise pristine environments. Others objected to snowmobilers because their machines were noisy and polluted the environment.
